STUDENT TEACHING

Below I am going to attach lessons, worksheets, and other works I did while student teaching 8th grade ELA at Ashland Middle School. Please keep in mind that there was supposed to be a lot more material, but COVID hit in the middle.

Synopsis: The Miracle Worker is a three-act play by William Gibson adapted from his 1957 Playhouse 90 teleplay of the same name. It was based on Helen Keller's 1903 autobiography The Story of My Life. The play's title was inspired by a Mark Twain quote: "Helen is a miracle, and Miss Sullivan is the miracle‐worker."

While in my student teaching, we read the play "The Miracle Worker." I was given multiple opportunities to create my own lesson plans in regard to the play.

Below are links to three different lesson plans using the AU Standard Lesson Plan:

I also had to complete a project called "Impact on Student Learning." During this project, we had to focus on a unit where we could measure student data over time. I chose to do mine on our Miracle Worker unit and I really focused on literary elements and text structures. (For example, theme, symbolism, characterization, plot, conflict, etc).

Included within this project are Ohio Learning Standards, Goals, Pre-Assessments and Post-Assessments (Exit Tickets), Student Data Results, Reflections, and Mini-Lessons.

Here are some worksheets I created during "The Miracle Worker" unit. Some were completed in stations, others in small groups or individually.

I also did a mini-lesson on symbolism using different songs to analyze. We listened and analyzed together as a class in a group discussion format before I had them analyze a song on their own that I also picked. Here is that worksheet as well:
