      • Students had to write about a branch on how God and our country contributed to the different military branches (students would pick one branch to focus on)

      • I gave students some background knowledge on the military branches (Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard) through a PowerPoint I created

      • Then, I assigned a group project where the students had to pick a branch to research, make a poster on, and present to the class

      • After writing the short essay, I hand-selected what I thought were the best ones and submitted them

        • One of my students actually won out of all the schools in Fairview that participated! :)

    • Fractured FairyTale Essay

      • Students had to pick a fairytale, read it, then pick a side character, and give them their own story

        • For example, if a student chose Cinderella, then they could choose to write a story about the Fairy Godmother, or Prince Charming, or one of the mice, etc.

          • It wasn't a retelling of the original story but more so giving another character their own story while also still incorporating parts of the original story

        • Had to be a personal story, something that happened to them in the pair of shoes they chose to write about
